President Ghana Kho-Kho Federation in Sunday Kho-Kho Series

Coach guides the player but good coach shapes the career of player. This post is dedicated to all coaches, officials and senior personalities round the world who are working hard and guiding the right path to players to follow the true path of success. This Sunday series our columnist caught Ghana Kho-  Kho Federation  President  Mr. Wonder Goldry Sitsofe Mandel who is doing good job to raise Kho-Kho in Ghana and improving Kho-Kho with a vision that Kho-Kho is soon in Olympics. Q1. How you define Kho-Kho?

Ans: Kho-Kho is one of the interesting indigenous games from India. The game involves concentration, stamina, endurance and determination. Vigorous but still fun when you are able to get acquainted with the basic skills. 

 

Q2. What steps has been taken by Ghana for lifting Kho-Kho?

Ans: My team “SportDrive” is going through all the necessary legal and administration process to make Kho-Kho a school sports. Pre-Covid, my team was introducing Kho-Kho in primary and junior high schools in Ghana. We will be going back to the schools soon.

 

Q3. As Ghana team has attended the International Coaching Camp last year in India. What will be the benefit of the camp and How it will be helpful for Kho-Kho in Ghana?

Ans:


Practicing is more relatable than theory. The Kho-Kho camp in India has helped us to understand the game more. We also learnt new managerial and coaching skills that we can adopt to make the game more interesting in Ghana 

 

Q4. What you think after 3-4 years the pace of Kho-Kho in Ghana?

Ans: In 3-4 year’s time, we want Kho-Kho to be a household name in Ghana. We want to build the best Kho Kho team in Africa.

 

Q5.  How you compare Kho-Kho with athletics or any other game as Kho-Kho is explosive game.

Ans: Kho-Kho combines a lot of motor skills at the same time. The concentration is key when playing Kho Kho, teamwork and identifying the strength of each member makes the game unique from general athletics 

 

Q6. As Kho-Kho is a game of mind and body. Any comments.

Kho-Kho is a game that involves all part of body. It even involves quick decision making, focus, concentration and all the needed cognitive skills. It also involves stamina, endurance, agility, speed and coordination of the body. With this, we can come to the understanding that Kho-Kho involves both body and mind.

 

Q7. Kho-Kho is spreading rapidly worldwide as 32 countries already adopt this game. Any Comments.

Ans: I congratulate the administration and the International Kho-Kho Federation, their blueprint in spreading the game is a commendable one. U will not be surprise to see Kho-Kho in Olympics due to the speed at which the game is spreading worldwide. 

 

Q8. What are your plans and strategies to popularize game in Ghana?

Ans: We have a project in Ghana to revive our indigenous games here. Kho-Kho has a similarity of a game in Ghana called Antoe-kyire, and we are introducing Kho-Kho to the Ghanaian society through this similarity. Kho-Kho will soon be popular among students and they will make it popular in their communities.

 

Q9. Any Words for World famous Sunday Kho-Kho Series.

Ans: The Kho-Kho Community appreciates your good work in putting Kho-Kho on the map. Your works deserves to be celebrated. Kho-Kho is the next big thing to hit the sporting world. It’s the beginning of the revival of our culture into modernity. I’m happy to be part of this journey and I can’t wait to see Kho-Kho in the Olympics.

            (Kho-Kho Icon Mr.Narendar Shah) The man who deserves Arjuna award for his meritious performance and dominance in the game of Kho-Kho.He is a man with strong faith and confidence in the game of Kho-Kho that never misses a player when a defender reaches pole.He is now 55 and still challenging player across world to get them out near pole and also give one minute as a defender against best team of world.He did 10000 Skipping on daily basis and never misses ground .Now he is doing 5000 skipping and fitness is his priority. Sunday Kho-Kho Series through Voice of International Player is trying to put reality and hidden stories of KhoKho players among people across the world by reaching every nook and corner across India and World.
