  ( Vandana Pandu Rang Shinde former Kho-Kho player ) Kho-Kho recently received Arjuna award after a gap of 22 years Sarika Kale of Maharashtra received it. Its a gap of 35 years that a player from Maharashtra is getting this award. It's all due to combine effort of Sh.Sudanshu Mittal President  KKFI, Gen.sec KKFI M.S.Tyagi and Government of India to promote Indigenous game of India like Kho-Kho. Sarika Kale nominated for Arjuna Award Sarika Kale, captain of India’s women’s kho-kho team led the national team to clinch a gold at the 12th South Asian Games (SAG) in Guwahati. At the age of 10, Sarika began playing kho-kho and developed an interest in the game. With time, she mastered the skills of the game and represented her state Maharashtra in 25 national championships. In 2016, the renowned kho-kho player was struggling to find a job. The Railways had a men’s kho-kho team but were yet to recruit a female kho-kho player. On this Devarajan, an Olympian and Arjuna awardee, who won the bronze medal at the 1994 Boxing World Cup in Bangkok said: “The Indian Kho-Kho Federation (IKKF) has requested them to recruit Sarika and a few other players, but it’s a matter of policy and we need approval from the Railway Board which we are waiting.” Sarika has always been confident that her sport, just like kabaddi, will grow leaps and bounds if the corporate sector steps in. You can see that Kho-Kho is continuously changing with time. Earlier Kho-Kho is silent in its features whether it's an attack, Defense, skills etc. Kho-Kho is limited to certain states and countries 10-20 years back. As Kho-Kho is pure Indian game it needs to be highlighted much before other games but due to more adaptation of western games by players and higher authorities is the only reason that Kho-Kho did not get that much speed in the era of 1990 to 2000s but in last 3 or 4 years Kho-Kho is accelerating high across the world. Kho-Kho has seen lots of changes whether it's strategy, pace, ground, crowd, popularity, people, tricks etc. In the era of '90 to 2000s Kho-Kho is purely bare feet played in the mud ground, the size of the ground is bigger and players are more calm and composed.
