India is celebrating the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashmi or Dussehra today which falls at the 10th day of Sharad Navratri and marks the end of Durga puja.It is celebrated with great joy and fervour across India by burning the effigies of Ravan. The day marks the victory of truth over evil. 

As per Hindu belief, two important events took place on Dussehra - Goddess Durga killed the demon king Mahishasura and Lord Ram defeated Raavana. Navratri’ in Sanskrit means ‘nine nights’. On these nine nights, people observe fast and offer special prayer to the ‘Nine Forms of Maa Durga’. Goddess Durga is an incarnation of Goddess Parvati. She took the avatar of Devi Durga to destroy Mahishasura.

On the eve of Dushera Voice of International Player reached Kerala the state which is near to Srilanka the country where Ravana Lives whose effigy is burnt on the eve of Dushera to mark the victory of truth over evil .In Sunday Kho-Kho Series Sreejesh from Kerala who is working in Indian Railways as he is the part of Indian Railway team who won Gold Medal in Chattisgarh Sr.National Championship.

Thanks to Sreejesh , Ghana , Kenya and viewers across the world for trusting and supporting us to promote Kho-Kho and help us to make our steps closer to make Kho-Kho top Game of the world.

Q1. What inspires you to start Kho-Kho?

Ans: Kho-Kho was the main game in the ground during my school days. I was active in Kho-Kho watching the senior players compete. I inspired by their game. Our school physical education sir also inspired me in playing Kho-Kho.

Q3. How you get selected in Railways?

Ans: The reason I got a job in the railways was that I participate in the 3rd  Asian Kho-Kho Championship and won the gold medal in it. Through this came a call letter from the railways and participated in a test conducted by them. I was able to perform well in it and I selected in railways.

 Q4. What is your favourite move in Kho-Kho?

 

Ans: I have been able surprisingly to attack in many matches. So surprise attack is my favourite move in Kho-Kho. Except this diving and pole diving are also my favourite moves in Kho-Kho.

Q5. Who is your coach and how he trained you?

Ans: G Radhakrishnan Sir (SAI coach kabbadi and Kho-Kho) and Satheeshan Sir( physical education) are my Kho-Kho Coach.Fitness workout,  Strengthening etc. are done in the morning section. Evening section mainly focuses on matches.

 Q6. What is the practise routine of you after joining railways and before railways?

Ans: In before joining railways I did good practice but I don't care about good diet plans. The quality of some players in Kerala was average. It differs in cases of match time combination and teamwork. After I joining railways,  the level of all players is equal like International players. We got the international level  infrastructure for practice section and also kept a good diet plan

 Q7. Railways Vs Maharashtra Finals what is the plan of your team. What your coach directs you before the match?

Ans: Our plan for the match was based on the situation. Our goal was to get 9 points in 9 minutes at the time of chasing. The planning of coach during the defensive skill was to hold only second batch in maximum.

Q8. Any comments, suggestions to improve or lift Kho-Kho globally?

Ans: To improve Kho-Kho globally,  introduce league competition(ultimate Kho-Kho), conducts National level All India Invitation Tournament and give more job opportunities to Kho-Kho players. It should become a motivation for all upcoming players.

 Q9. What is the selection procedure of players in Sr.National team from Kerala?

Ans: In first,  district association conduct district-level Kho-Kho tournament and then selected 18 players from that. After that association coduct, 15 days camp and again selected 12 players based on their performance level. Then State association conduct state-level Kho-Kho tournament and selected 20 players based on their performance. Then conduct 20 days coaching camp. After 20 days 12 players are selected for Senior National level Kho-Kho Championship.

 Q10. How many clubs are there in Kerala? What is the name of your club?

Ans: There are 14 Kho-Kho clubs in Kerala. I am a member of NSC thonnakkal Club in Trivandrum.

 Q11. As your team get a gold medal in Last Seniors. What advantage Railway after winning Gold medals from railway?

Ans: After getting a gold medal in last senior National the advantage is 12 players got one year leave from Railway board for practising. Except this, we also got a cash award. This gold medal certificate also helps in achieving promotions.

 Q12. During Covid-19 What railway is doing to keep players fit for coming tournaments?

Ans: The main goal of a sports player is to maintain his fitness. During Covid-19 our Railway introduced more advanced application(pecer)  for improving our performance. Our coach and railway authorities evaluate our performing level day by day.

 Q13. Whom you credit your success?

 

Ans: I will give my success credit to my coaches, my parents and all my supporters.

 Q14. Are players of Kerala getting any benefit from the state by performing well in National and International tournaments?

Ans: Yes, players of Kerala get benefits from the state by performing well in National and International tournaments. Players must get cash awards when they won 1st or 2nd or 3rd position in matches. Sometimes they also get job opportunities in Kerala.
