Kho Kho is Indian traditional game with hidden benefits as it's not so popular, but with cricket, kabaddi, football among other games attracting a major chunk of the attention from sports enthusiasts in the country, the sport of Kho Kho has remained in the clouds for quite a few years.

Moreover, Kho-Kho did not achieve so much popularity as its the oldest game of India and played by almost every Indian in its school time. Ascertain sport-based franchise leagues such as the Pro Kabaddi League, Indian Super League and Premier Badminton League catch the attention of people around the globe.

However, In order to create the new opportunities and improve the financial standing of player who devoted their life for this sports and did not get recognition like other players, the Kho Kho Federation of India (KKFI) having recently announced the Ultimate Kho Kho League as it is inaugurated in New Delhi, talented players from all across the globe can now avail the opportunities with the league.

KKFI's putting its all-round effort to extend the reach out of this game at every districts and state by strengthing the Associations with financial support and Improving the standards of Game by providing quality infrastructure and required technical officials and coaches.

Yet, KKFI's attempt to revive the sport and bring it to the masses is not only through the league but also extends to reaching out to the grassroots levels and unearthing some of the best talents, providing districts and states in India quality infrastructure and financial benefits to promote the sport and add to the rich haul of passion.

With the Indian team putting up a dominating performance in the recently held 13th South Asian Games 2019 at Nepal, the defending champions could be expected to put on a good show in the summit clash and seal yet another gold medal.

Ms.Neha Duggal Columnist caught up with KKFI Treasurer S.B.S. Tirthi in an exclusive chat as he shed light on the big perspective of the sport in near future, the advent of the franchise-based Ultimate Kho-Kho league and a lot more.


Q1.In Recent years, Kho Kho in India as well as across the world is holding its grip as KKFI seems to be growing. What do you say?


Yes absolutely as KKFI under the strong leadership of President Sh.Sudhanshu Mittal, Secretary General I.O.A Sh. Rajeev Mehta, Gen. Secretary Sh.M.S.Tyagi , Sh.Brij Haldania Chairman International Kho Kho Federation , Mr.Tenjing C.E.O Ultimate Kho Kho League and dedicated team put their day and night efforts to bring this game to the top. As International tournaments are organized well on time as well as lots of tournaments are coming. Side by side International camps, seminars, workshops are going on to aware youth about Kho-Kho and to reach every nook and corner of the world.

Q2.As lots of Youngsters are showing keen interest in Kho Kho? What is your opinion?

The flow of youngsters towards kho kho is increasing. Because as more than 1 lakh players are registered under KKFI and players are seeing better future in Kho-Kho as doors are opening fast with Kho-Kho recently booked its place in Asian Games and start of Ultimate Kho Kho League in which players get huge financial benefits.


Q3. As KKFI has signed an agreement with Dabur India for Ultimate League. What do you say how sports Kho-Kho and players will be benefitted?

Ultimate league agreement from Mr.Burman with KKFI changes the whole outlook of the game as Already promotion shoots are performed to make this game so professional. Recently promo shoots are performed at Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur (Phase 1) and at New Delhi(phase 2) in which top players of India are participated to perform the videos for Ultimate Kho Kho. This league will certainly help players both financially and professionally to choose it as a career. Quite a few Kho Kho players who were drained out and were looking for alternate careers will now have an opportunity to get back to playing the game and earning a good sum of money from this league.

Q4. What are the steps taken by the KKFI to make the interest of players in this sport as a career?

Ans.KKFI works with a clear agenda to ensure tough competition at each and every level of the game. There is a lot of schemes introduced to provide financial benefits to players in terms of cash prizes to the winner and runner team at the national level. Moreover, all affiliated associations are funded on a regular basis to promote Kho-Kho at the grassroots level. Players under sub-junior and Junior category are awarded regular scholarships based on their talent and they are trained under reputed coaches and trainers with all necessary facility to choose kho kho as a career.

Q5.What you predict Is Launch of Ultimate League for Kho-Kho can beat other Games viewership or it is successful?

Ans: Personally, I believe that once this game is on TV. It moves forward at rapid speed because of its characteristics of explosiveness, sensational moves, Allround real action that is the choice of today's public. As its a time saver game and every nano second counts and the whole show is completed in an hour. This really benefits viewers to spend some time for Ultimate Kho Kho in their busy day to day life.

Q6.Recently as a Chief Coach of India, you conducted an international coaching camp of foreign players of 16 countries. Can you brief How it will help in Ultimate Kho-Kho league?

Ans: As a Chief Coach, I trained various country players and Coaches before Lockdown. It's a 30 day programme in which most of the tacts, fitness tips, rules are shown to foreign players and Coaches. In the next phase, we cover other countries too and keeping these international camps in our calendar activity. This type of Camps attracts foreign players to make their places in Ultimate League as It's linked with popularity and Financial advantage. So, In coming times tough competition will be seen among the performers throughout the world to make a place in teams.

Q7.Finally How you see Kho-Kho in next 5 years after introduction Of Ultimate Kho Kho League?

Ans: In the next 5 years this game of mind, body and soul will put behind all other games as it has a lots of potential to get famous around the world and this game is the ultimate source of real action which is the taste of today's and upcoming generations. After watching its benefits on health and popularity to a player it is definitely a boost for it.
