This Sunday in Srilankan Edition of Sunday Kho-Kho Series Thisara was caught up by our Featured Columnist as He is a very positive player who worked hard to become a good defender and find a place in  Srilankan Team.

Q1.How do you come to Know about Kho-Kho?

Ans.I know about Kho-Kho game through one of my friend Sankalpa .He introduced me about Kho-Kho and I liked the game.

Q2.What is the scope of Kho-Kho in Srilanka?

Ans. W.M. Athula Wijenayake was a leader in developing this sport in Sri Lanka. 
The game was introduced to the players of Minuwangoda / Marapola College and Minuwangoda / Nalanda College in late 1996 after special training in sports in India, and the Sri Lanka Kho kho operative Federation was established in 1997. 

In 1998, the first national tournament was held at Marapola Maha Vidyalaya in Minuwangoda.Kho kho is a sports game has been initially introduced to the university of sabaragamuwa in 2016 Asian games Sri Lanka team vice-captain and expected to introduce to other universities all over the country

Q3.Whats your favourite skill in Kho-Kho?

Ans. I am a defender .I like to show my defending skills in the game.

Q4. Who is your coach ?How he trained you?

Ans. First of all, we are like to remind you two coaches behind our sports life are my father and Mr.nalaka Sanjeewa (athletic) who have coached athletes for me, and  Mr.daniyel Sir who has coached tennis for me. Why we are in here today. Because of the effort of both coaches. So we respect them our whole life . Then we joined with our Kho-Kho Coach  Mr.Athula Wijenayake and other coaches Mr.Aruna Lasantha, and Mr.Amila Thushara. Actually, they are not our coaches they are like our close friends. So it’s a good plus point for us to learn this game correctly and accordingly. They work with us to improve our speed stamina, Endurance, Strength, and skills. They guide us all the time on the right path. All the sacrifices that need to be made to lead us to victory were made for us.

Q5.Kho-Kho How you compare this game with other games?

Ans.Kho-Kho game have many skills and it requires absolute physical fitness. When you play Kho-Kho you are able to beat other games as it's a mother game of all games.

Q6.To encourage players to play Kho-Kho .What will be the steps?

Ans.Teaching about sports.Keeping regular programs. Organizing tournaments on timely basis.Job Creation and motivation are two important steps to encourage players towards Kho-Kho.

Q7. As mostly this game is played by every Indian in school and mostly people said it's an easy game.What you say?

Ans. No it's not so easy game as in School, level of Game is low ignoring fouls .It's require less infrastructure but extremely high fitness.

Q8.As you are a runner .How you practice running skill?

Ans.Firstly I improve my physical fitness and then I practice the running skills and techniques. Following the time table as given by my coach .Regular practise session,conditioning etc.

Q9.  Kho-Kho is an athletic game but it requires not only athlete but intelligent and controlled .Are you agree .Give points to prove this.

Ans. I agree with you. because we need to know how to save our opponent's players.

Q10.What kind of support you want From IKKF to improve Kho-Kho in Srilanka?

Ans.We want more practice matches. Knowledgeable coaches and educational programs for us or webinars.

Q11. Any words for Voice of International Player?

Ans. It's a very good program. It is so inspiring and through it, we could express our talents and achievements. the game would be a giant leaf forward to the mass international arena of the game as it's genuinely open to individuals' skills & commitment. Wonderful Job to lift Kho-Kho with unique ideas and work.
