West Bengal Kho-Kho player Jyoti in Sunday Kho-Kho Series

The indigenous game of India Kho-Kho is spreading worldwide. Mostly players of middle class family adopt this game and  today in World Famous Sunday Kho-Kho Series we are covering West Bengal .The region that provides us World class Football ,Cricket players and  Kho-Kho players .Thank you Jyoti to be part of this Series so that Kho-Kho will improve and your words become source of inspiration for upcoming players as she is caught by our columnist.

                                                     West Bengal Kho-Kho Player Jyoti

Q1. What inspires you to start Kho-Kho?

Ans. As in school time I am a sprinter and our sports teacher introduced me to Kho-Kho first time, When I was in 8th Standard. I learned the game quickly as compared to other players and played national in the same year. This increases my interest towards the game more.

Q2. Who is your Coach? How he trained you.

Ans.

I trained from lots of coaches. My first coach is Pankaj and after that Mr. Polash Paul long time Coach still he is training us  and Mr. Bhaskar Dutta Majumdar.

Q3. How you  selected in National Team?

Ans.

As I am a good chaser with good speed and performed well in District level ,State level and get place in West Bengal Team.

Q4. As Recently KKFI increased players in Kho-Kho team from 12 to 15.What are your views?

Ans.

It is a good step and good thinking as Players get replacement easily and more players get chance in a team. Good thinking by KKFI.

Q5. In recent years Odisha Girls team show good rise in performance. What you say what's the reason .What West Bengal must do to improve performance of team.

Ans.

In Odisha ,Support System is good for players from government and Association ,Hostel arrangement and lodging food ,Good coaching and administrative support is excellent. This is the obvious reason that Team will perform well but in West Bengal this kind of support is lacking and support from Government is not up to the mark .These are the essential  factors for a team to perform.

Q6. Who is the man behind West Bengal Kho-Kho? What he did to improve Kho-Kho?

Ans. Kalyan Chatterjee is the Secretary. He done lots of Improvement in state .It takes time.Kho-Kho can rise similar to the standard of Football and Cricket if government and Kho-Kho bodies will support in a proper manner to Kho-Kho players. I expect that in coming years that proper camps has been taken in all districts of West Bengal As every district needs improvement and  grounds are very far from the players houses so its very difficult for them to continue the game .Players need financial support .Here are very good players but they are lacking career security ,financial help. I also played lots of Nationals and also played International Tournament but still we are jobless. Higher authority must do something for National, International players if they really want to improve Kho-Kho in every state because now the time is to be practical no lectures .Definitely if higher authority will talk to the government officials of State for players job policies as for other sports in India like Cricket etc. definitely result will be fruitful for Kho-Kho.

Q7. What are your  suggestions to improve Kho-Kho in West Bengal?

Ans. Mainly Jobs are the need of players .There are so many players of Kho-Kho but We players are lacking in jobs as compared to other games. Mostly players are from middle class family and It is not possible to continue the game without securing their future. Railway Boys have center team but not for girls and in AAI girls team is contract based. So, I request the higher authorities to look at this matter. As in recent years Kho-Kho Popularity is increased as KKFI has done outstanding work.

Q8. What you suggest players to improve chasing skills?

Ans. Learn skill from different players of the country in Nationals ,practice it and play pressure matches to improve game .All improvement depends upon practice and activeness of mind in the game.

Q9. Any words for International Player?

Ans. Very good concept as it is reaching to every region of the world and getting popularity day by day. Every Kho-Kho lover must encourage this step and follow it as it is for the improvement and welfare of Kho-Kho.
