Srilankan Kho-Kho twins Rathnayake Sisters in Sunday Kho-Kho Series


Kho-Kho twins of Srilankan Kho-Kho Sandunika and Hirunika are very determined players of Kho-Kho in  Sunday Kho-Kho series as they are caught by our columnist. Thanks to them to be part of World famous Sunday Kho-Kho Series. As its quite amazing that these twin sisters are part of  Srilankan Kho-Kho team.

Q1. What inspires you to start Kho-Kho? 

Ans. We are football players and athletes but agility, fitness, endurance, explosiveness of Kho-Kho attracts us to play Kho-Kho .

Q2. What are your achievements?

Ans.


As a Kho-Kho players

*Represented Srilanka in 2019 South Asian Kho-Kho games 

*All Island 2nd place in 2017 National Kho-Kho championship 

As a football players

 In 2010 &2012 Won medals in Srilanka National sport festival 

As a Athletes

 Participate 2017 Inter University Athletic meet and won Bronze medal.

Q3. What is the scope of Kho-Kho in Srilanka? 

Ans. W.M. Athula Wijenayake was a leader in developing this sport to Sri Lanka. 

The game was introduced to the players of Minuwangoda / Marapola College and Minuwangoda / Nalanda College in late 1996 after special training in sports in India, and the Sri Lanka Kho kho operative Federation was established in 1997. 

In 1998, the first national tournament was held at Marapola Maha Vidyalaya in Minuwangoda.Kho kho as a sport game has been initially introduced to university of sabaragamuwa and expected to introduced to other universities all over the country

Q4. What is your favorite skill and Why?

Ans.

.  Running is my favourite Kho-Kho skill because its a real test of stamina and endurance.

Q5. Kho-Kho is game of Fitness? Comment.

Ans. When considering the skills of Kho-Kho most probably it should be the fitness game .Stamina , speed , endurance, strength and most of other skills of this game need good fitness for wining the game. Game planning , presence of mind also a part of this game , but mostly Kho-Kho is a fitness game. If Whole team members considering there fitness levels , it’s could be a good support to winning team .

Q6. When you get selected in Srilankan team .What was your reaction?

Ans. That was the most happiest day of our life and wanted do our best as we  represent the Sri Lankan team  at International level.

Q7 .Who is your Coach? How he trained you.

Ans. First of all we are like to remind you two coaches behind our sports life are Mr.Kumara Algama (football) who have coached football to me and  Mr.S.P.P.D.M.Bandara Sir who have coached athletics (athletic ) for us. Why we are in here today . Because of  the effort of both coaches . So we  respect them in our whole life .Then we have joined with our Kho-Kho Coach  Mr.Athula Wijenayake and other coaches Mr.S.Dunusinghe, Miss E.P.Nilanthi.Actually they are not our coaches they are like out close friends. So it’s be a good plus point us to learn this game correctly and accordingly. The work with us to improve our speed stamina, Endurance, Strength and skills. They guide us all the time in right path. All the sacrifices that need to be made to lead us to victory were made for us.

Q8. Kho-Kho is a team game? What are your views about team work?

Ans.

Team work is a determinant factor of the Kho-Kho game. Therefore,instead of working alone, the game required cooperation of each player to win the game. 

Q9. What are your views about Voice of International Player?

Ans. It's very good program. It is so inspiring and through it we could express our talents and achievements. Thank you for interviewing us. It is a great pleasure.
