Q1. What inspires you to start Kho-Kho?

Ans. To win our country and participate Sri lanka national kho  kho team.

Q2. What you like most in Kho-Kho?

Ans. Its a newly introduced game with combination of strength, stamina & intelligence which attracted me.

Q3.When you started Kho-Kho and How.

Ans. Started Kho kho in the  year of 2015 when I was attached to national/Srilanka Navy athlatic pool. When I established Srilanka navy 400 m hurdles  records in a public meet Miss  Rangika  called me for Kho kho training it is very  much glad to say that my 400m hurdles  records is still remaining & I am continuing Kho kho even after after I left I Srilanka Navy.

Q4. As you are part of Srilankan Kho-Kho team. What difficulties you faced to reach at this level?

Ans. As it is newly introduced game in the Srilankan Sports .It lacks in qualified & experienced coaches. Then due to  lack of awareness we couldn't get essentially required assistance from authorities concerned. Next lack of tournaments  we could not gain experiences required.
Specially we were totally out of International experiences when participating SAG & Asian games. Finally we never had any overseas training or coaches to cover up laps in local training. Also due to very few teams & games facilities in the country we had very limited opportunities to select our team members.

Q5. What are your achievements?

Ans. Achievements
 i.  2019 - Captained Srilanka team for South Asian geme in Nepal
ii. 2016 -   _ Vice Captain Of Srilanka team for South Asian geme in India
iii. 2016 -Captained Srilanka team for Asian Championship in India
iv. Team member for Srilanka National team from 2015 to 2021.

Q6. Who is your coach. How he trained you?

Ans. My appointer coach for SAG 2016 is Mr.Athula wijenayake

Q7.What steps should be taken to improve Kho-Kho in Srilanka?

Ans. Initially I must acquire  technical, game & development knowledge to plan  introduction programmes from school level as I beleive players should train & develop from young ages specially in school level.
By profession I am a sport coach in leading girls school in Colombo we have a net work of all school PTI s in the country so I am confident of launching introductory programmes through our professional net work only I need back up from the Srilanka Kho kho association to get the approval from Ministry of Education.
Specially as a national captain I have edge.Further I must seek assistance to mobilize sponsors to mobilize required funding to achieve success if  planning for mass introduction programs.

Q8. What is your favourite skill in Kho-Kho?

Ans. Not just categorically one skill but  I love each & every aspect of lovely game which is a untirelessly dedicated to achieve what I am today as a national captain.

Q9. Whole world is going through Corona wave. What are you doing to remain fit during this challenging time?

Ans. Let me answer the question in this way- initialy at the out break of pandemic in March 2020 not only sports but also everything was standstill
Ultimately when pandemic spread becomes under control at the beginning of 2021Srilanka Ministry of Sports has categorized all existing sports into four categories where as Kho Kho & all other contact games comes under 4th category which is considered high risk games.  Accordingly training & Companions being commenced starting from category 1 which is considered least vulnerable to covid 19.
Gradually  it has by now come to 4th category of games also to conduct training & competitions under the given health guide lines. It is very much glad to inform boxing which is in the 4th category had commenced provincial/districts level selection trial meets for the selection to national sports festival/championship.
Further Srilanka Boxing selection trial for Asian games due to be held in Colombo 27rh,28th & 29th April.
Considering all these facts I beleive that it is high time to commence training under the given health guide lines for the prevention of covid 19 .
Other wise it may be difficult to recover the game after long abandon.
Initially stamina, strength, enduarance, agility......etc development training could be commenced with out compromising safety of players under the health guide lines. Also it should initiate to organize online seninars, training sessions & videos which would helpful to keep the game intact amongst kho kho community (not only players but also coaches, referees, game management & all relevant officials)

Q10. Any words for Voice of International Player?

Ans. Single step with conscious towards the game would be a giant leaf forward to mass international arena of the game as its genuinely open for individuals skills & commitment.Wonderful Job to lift Kho-Kho with unique idea and work.
