Indigenous Game of India is surging rapidly in last 3-4 years. Recently Arjuna award to the Kho-Kho player after a gap of 22 years and after 35 years to Maharashtrian Player creates history . This news brings elation to all Kho-Kho lovers and every Indian across the world. As this game did not get any encouragement in past 10-30 years and always in the back seat .But Now, It's all due to consolidate effort of Sh. Sudanshu Mittal (President KKFI), Sh.M.S. Tyagi (Gen.Sec KKFI), Sh.Rajiv Mehta(Sec.Gen.IOA) and Government of India to promote Indigenous game of India like Kho-Kho.

Sunday Kho-Kho Series is trying to put reality and facts of Kho-Kho among people across the world by reaching every nook and corner across India and World.

Ms.Neha Duggal Columnist caught up with 
Ms.Sarika Sudhakar Kale from Osmanabad District of Maharashtra in a sole conversation as she cast off a glint on Kho-Kho. She is working in the Sports department and gives her  vital time to us. Thanks and Congratulations to Sarika for Arjuna Award and sharing her experiences, suggestions and views so that people across the world will know Kho-Kho Voices.

1. What inspires you to start Kho-Kho?

Ans. My uncle Prabhakar was a national player. He inspires me a  lot. There is very much craze of Kho-Kho in Osmanabad District. Also in my school, Shripatra Bhosle High School Kho-Kho is very much famous. These things attract and inspire me to play Kho-Kho and only Kho-Kho.

2. As you won Arjuna Award what is the first reaction when you know that you have been nominated for Arjuna Award?

Ans. I receive a call from Delhi for the size of a blazer but I did not have any idea that I am selected for Arjuna award. Also, I received a call from my coach Chandrajit Jadhav that he was coming to my home and he told us all at my home that I am selected for the Arjuna Award. This news brings a big surprise and happiness among all of us and tears in my eyes.

3. What are your future plans to promote Kho-Kho among girls in your locality?

Ans. As Kho-Kho is now glamourous game. Being a girl and nominated for the Arjuna Award is the news that attracts more players towards Kho-Kho. Players have to work hard and definitely one day they achieve name and fame through this game.

4. Tell me about your Family?

Ans. My Father Name is Sudhakar.He is handicapped and my mother Name is Sulochana. She worked in locality houses to wash utensils and earn living for us in the beginning .Now I have
a job and I have a  younger brother who is a reporter and younger Sister who also played two nationals.

5. What are your achievements?

Ans.

6. As it is difficult for you to continue Kho-Kho without financial help. What do you think?

Ans. I belong to a poor family. As my father is handicapped and my mother usually washes utensils in other houses. It's very difficult for me to earn something for Living. Some times I have to eat food once a day. But I focused on my aim to play for the country and I got what a player want.
I got a job in the Sports Department and prestigious award in Sports because of Kho-Kho.

7. Any message to upcoming players especially female regarding Kho-Kho?

Ans. I want to tell all youngsters and their parents that study is equally important as sports are. Now the trend is changing as sports is a better option as a career.

8. As you are playing Kho-Kho since 2004. Can you share any match whose memories are still unforgettable from your mind?

Ans. There are two events that I never forget in my life.
1. In 2016 Asian Kho-Kho Championship at Indore I was captain of the Indian team when we won the final match and roam the India flag across the ground. It was a memorable moment.
2. Winning Finals against Airport authority in a tie match at Jaipur and I  played well and gave time as it's important to stay in the ground to clinch gold from the hand of AAI and confirm gold for Maharashtra. Its was so thrilling and tough match. Its memory I never forget in my life.

9.Who is your coach? How he trained you.

Ans.

1.Dr.Chandrajit Jadhav

2.Mr.Praveen Baghal

3.Mr.Abhijit Patil is my coaches they motivate me to play Kho-Kho and focus on upgrading my skills.

Regularity and punctuality are two important steps to attain success in any field. I work on it and get the results.

10. What can be done during Corona to remain in touch with the game or remain fit during these days.

Ans. In the morning we usually do 
Yoga, Stretching exercises at home and advise players to watch YouTube Fitness channels to remain fit at home.
In the evening, we do fitness practises, match practises etc on the ground to maintain fitness and agility.
