(Mr.Mannikantanniar Krishnapillai)

Q1. In the final matches, it is very difficult to organize the match as the crowd was everywhere and the pressure of the host. What is your opinion?

Ans.In my experience, each match is very important. Now also I read the rules book of Kho-Kho two or more times before each tournament. During the match, so many situations happened beyond the rules book. At that time the experience will help us to overcome that. So I have always enjoyed the crowd situation don't feel pressure.

Q2. What is your experience?

Ans. As a Referee 36 years of Experience in the state Level (from 1985), 25 years at National Level (from 1997) attended about 55 National championships, and 5 years at the International level (from 2017)
As a player, I had participated All India Inter-university championship in 1985. I am working as a Physical Education Teacher. In the history of Physical Education course in Kerala, I got the first Rank with distinction from Govt: Physical Education College, Kozhikode and First Rank in two different  Examinations for PET Post conducted by Kerala Public Service Commission.

Q3. In ultimate  Kho-Kho rules have been on change. Still not finalized. What's your opinion about this? Will it stop the momentum of the game as there is a continuous break of some seconds as when one defender is out etc.

Ans. That is the experimental stage now. I hope the final decision boosted the game into the International arena. KKFI took a good effort for the worldwide popularity of the Game. I think the ultimate Kho -kho will change the Game into a major games group shortly. Momentum break is not a problem because cricket, football, Kabaddi, etc also have the same situation. The problem is we are not ready to change our mindset.

Q4. If you have allowed organizing SR.National Tournament in your state. How can you manage?

Ans. It is not impossible, Kerala organized last nationally in 1997 at Payyannur, Kannur. The present situation is very difficult. State Kho-Kho Association is the final authority to decide the matter, I hope Sri. G.V. Pillai, joint Secretary KKFI and Sri. GR Nair secretary KKKA is the capable dynamic personality to make decisions about the matter. They inspire us for the game, and they are my model so I am always for Kho-Kho.

Q5. As you said in the previous question that Momentum break is not a problem because cricket, football, Kabaddi, etc also have the same situation. How can you compare Kho-Kho with cricket, Kabbadi as it's a total stamina-based game each millisecond counts?

Ans. We want to enter the international arena, IPL, ultimate Kho-Kho without media coverage how we can reach there. Little sacrifice will create more results for the game.

Q6. What are your views regarding placing two officials on both sides of the poles? Whether it's beneficial in decision making.

Ans. Recently KKFI post-two-pole officials for Semi Finals & Final and Khelo India championships to help the Referee. My opinion is that in any doubtful situation of pole dive we can consider their opinion also, but final decision will be  taken by the Referee only.

Q7. Sometimes in a highly pressurized match a player which behave in the wrong manner against the umpires because of some decision by the referee. If you are the referee of that match what is your immediate step.

Ans.Not pressurized match only, In any match any player can behave in wrong manner to any official .Referee must take action as per rules, otherwise, discipline will forfeit.

Q8. What are the views to improve Kho-Kho or make it popular?

Ans. Kho-Kho in India have rapid progress in all over India, Conducting Tournaments with media coverage, use world-class mats surface& equipment, Disciplined Qualified Officials, Provide proper uniforms for players, Choose Bussiness marks for sponsors, Attractive prizes and grass-root competition of various age groups, etc will  help for the popularity of the game

Q9. Kerala Women team showing improvement in the last few years. What's the reason behind it?

Ans. Kerala women team secured First, Second and Third positions in few years, in National championships and National Games also.  Kerala Sports Council has started a sports hostel for Kho-Kho and the dedicated work of sports Council coaches and the support of the Kerala Kho-Kho Association helps to obtain that.

Q10. What Kerala state and Kerala association is doing to improve employment opportunities and other benefits to players and officials?

Ans. Kerala State Government directly appoints 50 Sportspersons each year in various sports discipline indirectly by Kerala Public Service Commission. They can get more chances with weightage officials to have no benefits.

Q11. What difference you had seen you between the Khelo India tournament and Senior National Tournaments?

Ans. Khelo - India Tournament conducts sports authority of India in three age groups by the financial assistance of Govt. of India. National Championships are conducted by KKFI - for Senior, Junior, Sub Junior Categories With the grant of Central Govt. and public contributions only. So every time Khelo India meets is grant because there have more funds.

Q12. A few years back in Kerala there was a federation cup. Had you faced any problem if yes and how Kerala state association cope with it?

Ans. At University Stadium Kozhikode, we have conducted the championship very smoothly. No problem at there. At that time Sri G V Pillai Sir, the backbone of KK KA was the Secretary and South Zone Convener.

Q13. Few words for the Voice of an International Player.

Ans. I am very happy to say about Kho-Kho through the Voice of an International player. The progress of Kho-Kho in India is very rapid and also across the world. Kho -Kho already boosted to the International arena through Test Series, Asian championships, Asian Games, SAF Games, etc. Golden Time of Kho-Kho is coming.
